Your smile – digitally planned, carefully realised

Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a modern planning method that allows us to visualise your new smile in advance – before the actual treatment begins. Using digital photos, videos and special software, we create a preview of your future smile. This means you can actively take part in shaping it and see beforehand what the result may look like.

Dr. Pantas has completed the DSDApp training in Digital Smile Design and combines digital planning with the craftsmanship of our in-house dental laboratory – for results that are intended to be aesthetically convincing and functionally durable.

What is Digital Smile Design?

Digital Smile Design was developed to make aesthetic dental treatments more precise and more predictable. Instead of a smile based on a standard template, the shape, colour and position of your teeth are individually matched to your facial proportions, lip shape and personal wishes.

The result of the digital planning is transferred into a mock-up – a preview model made of resin – which is placed directly on your teeth. This allows you to see the planned result in the mirror before any tooth is treated.

How Smile Design proceeds

  1. Analysis and wishes
During the initial consultation, we discuss your ideas. What bothers you about your smile? What would you like to change? We take photos and, if appropriate, a short video of your face.
  2. Digital planning
Based on these images, we create a digital simulation of your new smile. In doing so, we take facial symmetry, tooth proportions, the lip line and your individual wishes into account.
  3. Mock-up (preview in the mouth)
The digital plan is transferred into a physical mock-up and placed directly on your teeth. You see the planned result live and can ask for adjustments.
  4. Treatment planning
Once you are happy with the design, we plan how to realise it: which treatment is needed? Veneers, crowns, teeth whitening or a combination?
  5. Realisation
Step by step, we bring the planned smile to life – in close coordination between the treatment room and the dental laboratory.

Frequently asked questions about Smile Design

How much does Smile Design cost?
The cost depends on the scope of treatment. The Smile Design planning itself, including the mock-up, is a separate item. The total cost depends on whether veneers, crowns, teeth whitening or a combination is carried out. We prepare an individual cost estimate for you.
Is Smile Design only for veneers?
No. Smile Design is a planning method that can be used for various treatments: veneers, crowns, bridges, teeth whitening, minor gum corrections or combinations of these. The aim is to plan and visualise the result in advance.
How long does Smile Design take?
The planning phase (analysis, digital simulation, mock-up) usually involves a few appointments. The subsequent treatment (for example, the fabrication of veneers) takes a few weeks, depending on the scope.
Does Smile Design hurt?
During the planning phase, only photos, scans and impressions are taken – no anaesthesia is needed for this. Whether the subsequent treatment requires anaesthesia depends on the type of restoration chosen.
