Dental prosthetics — the choice is yours
Dental prosthetics are a subject many people associate with considerable costs and high prices. It doesn't have to be that way! At our practice, all patients are free to choose their treatment — and with it the type of prosthetics that suits them.
At the dental practice of Dr. Pantas in Düsseldorf's Old Town (Altstadt), you can choose between state-of-the-art prosthetics from our German master laboratory or an imported solution. Both options are individually tailored to you and fitted with the greatest care. Depending on your findings and the type of restoration, we can also offer economical solutions with a manageable personal contribution.
Dental prosthetics "Made in Germany" — from our own master laboratory
Your crowns, bridges and dentures are created in our practice's own dental laboratory in Düsseldorf — crafted by experienced dental technicians in Germany. Short distances, personal shade matching and transparent material documentation.

Where do the imported prosthetics come from?
The imported prosthetics ordered for you by your dentist in Düsseldorf come from Asia. We make sure that our partner laboratory complies with the applicable quality standards and that the prosthetics are carefully inspected. This allows us to offer economical alternatives alongside our German master laboratory.

Personal contribution and subsidies for dental prosthetics
German statutory health insurance contributes to dental prosthetics through fixed subsidies towards so-called standard care (Regelversorgung). How high your personal contribution turns out depends in particular on your findings, the restoration you choose, your bonus booklet (Bonusheft) and any hardship provisions that may apply.
We discuss transparently with you which restoration makes medical sense and which costs are likely to be covered. On request, we compare different laboratory and material options and explain the differences clearly in the treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan).
For certain prosthetic restorations, we offer a contractually agreed extended guarantee that is tied to regular follow-up care. We will explain the exact conditions to you in writing before treatment begins.
Procedure
- Preliminary treatment of the teeth
Before your prosthetics are custom-made for you, your teeth are prepared. This includes treating caries and checking which teeth are worth preserving. - Preparation of the treatment and cost plan
If your dentist determines during the check-up that you need prosthetics in the form of a crown, bridge, veneers or dentures, a treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan) is drawn up. This document records the current state of your dental health. - Review and approval
This document, together with your bonus booklet, is then reviewed by your health insurance provider. - Planning of prosthetics and dental implants
The success of any prosthetic restoration depends on good planning. Using an intraoral scanner and X-rays of your jaw, precisely fitting prosthetics are made for you. - Fitting your prosthetics in Düsseldorf
Your prosthetics are then placed by means of a surgical procedure, either under local anaesthesia or under nitrous oxide sedation. - Follow-up check
The implant heals into the jawbone and the final dental implant restoration is fitted. Afterwards, careful oral hygiene and maintenance are particularly important for the long-term preservation of your implants.
Your options at a glance:
- Imported prosthetics from our partner laboratory as a possible economical alternative
- Prosthetics made in Germany by our master laboratory with transparent cost planning
Dental prosthetics in Düsseldorf — reducing your personal contribution
If you would rather not opt for imported prosthetics, there are various ways to reduce your personal contribution. A complete bonus booklet, the right type of restoration and, where applicable, supplementary insurance can have a noticeable effect on the costs.
Your personal contribution is based not only on the restoration itself — that is, the treatment method and the material used — but also on a consistently kept bonus booklet. Every free preventive check-up (once or twice a year) is documented in this booklet. If you need dental prosthetics, your health insurance provider reviews your personal prevention record and bases its subsidy on it. This means: a complete bonus booklet entitles you to a higher share of the costs being covered by your health insurance. You can therefore easily reduce your personal contribution by coming to our dental practice in Düsseldorf for regular check-ups. Supplementary dental insurance can also help lower your personal contribution.
If you cannot present a complete bonus booklet, our affordable alternatives mean we can still find suitable dental prosthetics in Düsseldorf that you can afford! Get in touch — Dr. Pantas and his team will be happy to advise you.
Additional services for dental prosthetics in Düsseldorf
Since 2013, we have been offering additional services in the field of dental prosthetics. A mini implant, placed by one of our dentists, is suitable, for example, for stabilising full dentures in patients with an edentulous lower jaw and pronounced bone loss. Mini implants are placed using a minimally invasive procedure; whether and when they can bear load depends on your individual starting situation.
Treatments at Dr. Pantas can be carried out under nitrous oxide sedation. Many patients find this calming, and it can also reduce the sensation of pain. We adjust the sedation individually and discuss in advance whether this method is suitable for you.
We will gladly prepare an individual cost estimate for your case, taking your needs into account. We can also review your current cost estimate and present treatment alternatives. Together with you, we decide on the best treatment concept, which prosthetics are right for you and which additional services you would like.
Information about the bonus booklet
The bonus scheme of the statutory health insurance providers (Bonusheft) determines a policyholder's entitlement to increased subsidies towards dental prosthetics. Without a bonus booklet, health insurance covers 60% of the standard care. If an adult patient can prove regular dental check-ups over an uninterrupted period of five years through the bonus booklet, the subsidy rises to 70%. If check-ups can even be proven over a period of ten years, the subsidy increases to 75% of the standard care.
The different types of dental prosthetics in Düsseldorf
Bridges
Dental bridges are used when several teeth need to be replaced. The bridge serves as a replacement for the missing teeth.
Implants
With a dental implant, an artificial tooth root is placed in the jaw. An artificial crown is then fitted onto the implant, which is made of titanium or ceramic. Implants are a modern solution for permanently closing gaps between teeth.
Telescopic crowns
Telescopic crowns, also known as double crowns, consist of two parts. While the first part of the restoration is anchored in the jaw, the second part is secured to the crowns in the mouth. Telescopic crowns are a removable form of prosthetics and belong to the category of combined dental prosthetics.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells made of ceramic. This type of restoration is bonded to the surface of the teeth with a special adhesive. Veneers are used to close gaps between teeth and to conceal discolouration, enamel cracks and unsightly fillings.
Artificial crowns
Everyone has natural tooth crowns. The natural crown is the part of the tooth that is visible above the gumline. With an artificial crown, a damaged natural crown (for example due to caries) is replaced by an artificial one. The aim is to preserve the natural tooth.
Partial crowns
Partial crowns are used when only part of a tooth is damaged. With this type of restoration, only the damaged area of the natural crown is capped. The advantage is that the healthy part of the tooth can be preserved while the tooth still retains sound stability.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures are used in dentistry when some natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. The partial denture then replaces the missing teeth. There are various types of denture, such as the cast metal framework denture, which is anchored to the natural teeth by clasps.
Full dentures
With a full denture, all teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw are replaced by a denture. This method serves to restore chewing function, aesthetics and clear speech.
Bar-retained dentures
Bar-retained dentures are part of what is known as combined dental prosthetics. This means they are firmly anchored yet can still be removed. For this, two to four implants are placed in the jawbone. These form a bar construction that provides retention and support.

Supplementary dental insurance
We are often asked about supplementary dental insurance. For a variety of reasons, we consider supplementary dental insurance to be very important. However, there are more than 280 different dental insurance tariffs, and since we are neither insurance experts nor brokers of dental insurance, we recommend consulting a specialised, independent insurance broker on this subject — the Deutscher Zahnversicherung-Service.
Find out more online or seek advice by telephone and find the supplementary dental insurance that suits your teeth.
