The most important questions at a glance

How much does a dental implant cost at your practice?

Is having an implant placed painful?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia and is experienced as well tolerable by most patients. On request, we also offer nitrous oxide sedation or general anaesthesia.
How long does the entire treatment take?
From implant placement to the finished crown usually takes 3 to 6 months — most of this time is the healing phase. If there is sufficient bone, immediate restoration is also possible.

When are dental implants a good option?

Dental implants can be considered in a range of situations:

  • Single tooth gap: A missing tooth is replaced without grinding down the neighbouring teeth -- unlike with a bridge
  • Several missing teeth: Implant-supported bridges replace larger gaps without removable dentures
  • Edentulous jaw: With the All-on-4 concept, fixed teeth can be anchored on just four implants
  • Denture stabilisation: As few as two to four implants can give a loose denture a secure hold
  • After dental trauma: Broken or knocked-out teeth can be permanently replaced with implants

How your implant treatment proceeds

  1. Step 1: Free initial consultation

Personal discussion, clinical examination, answers to your questions.

    approx. 30 min

  2. Step 2: 3D diagnostics & planning

CBCT scan for precise planning, treatment and cost plan, clarification of any bone grafting if needed.

  3. Step 3: Implant placement

Gentle procedure under local anaesthesia, premium implant systems. With nitrous oxide or general anaesthesia on request.

  4. Step 4: Healing & prosthetics

After the healing phase, we make your crown or denture in our own dental laboratory.

When are dental implants not possible?

In some cases, implant placement is not immediately possible, but a solution can often be found through preliminary treatment:

  • Insufficient bone: Bone grafting (augmentation) can create the necessary foundation. We plan this in advance using 3D diagnostics
  • Untreated periodontitis: Must be treated before implant placement, as it would otherwise jeopardise healing
  • Heavy smoking: Can impair healing. We advise you on the risks
  • Certain underlying conditions: Uncontrolled diabetes or bisphosphonate therapy require special coordination

Implants as dental prosthetics

The structure of a dental implant is very similar to that of a natural tooth. It is made of high-quality materials such as ceramic or titanium. In the first step, it is anchored in the bone. After the healing phase, the artificial crown is fitted in the second step. In terms of function and aesthetics, the result often appears very natural.

Take advantage of this alternative to a bridge. Gaps in the upper or lower jaw can be closed far more gently this way, without affecting the surrounding teeth. You regain the original function and appearance.

from €1,800 per single implant (incl. crown) — up to approx. €3,500 depending on material and complexity

Dental implant costs and financing

The cost of a dental implant is made up of several components: the implant itself, the abutment, the crown and the dental services. For a single-tooth implant with crown, you should expect costs of approx. €1,800 to €3,500, depending on material and complexity.

German statutory health insurance contributes to dental prosthetics through a fixed subsidy (Festzuschuss) -- regardless of whether you choose an implant or a bridge. Patients who have kept their bonus booklet (Bonusheft) without gaps receive a higher subsidy (up to 30% more).

Before treatment begins, we prepare a transparent treatment and cost plan for you and advise you on financing options and payment by instalments.

Materials: titanium or ceramic?

At our practice, we use proven implant systems from established manufacturers. There are essentially two materials to choose from:

Titanium implants

Titanium has been the gold standard in implantology for decades. The material is extremely biocompatible, light and at the same time very stable. Titanium implants integrate reliably into the bone (osseointegration) and have an excellent long-term prognosis. For the vast majority of patients, they are the best choice.

Ceramic implants (zirconium oxide)

For patients who prefer a metal-free restoration, ceramic implants made of zirconium oxide offer an alternative. They are white, so no metallic shimmer can show through the gums. Ceramic implants are particularly suitable for the visible front tooth area and for patients with metal intolerance.

Bone grafting for implants

If the jawbone does not offer sufficient volume -- for example after a longer period without teeth, in cases of periodontitis or after a tooth extraction -- bone grafting (augmentation) may be necessary. At our practice, we offer various procedures:

  • Sinus lift: Augmentation of the jawbone in the posterior upper jaw when the maxillary sinus lies too close to the alveolar ridge
  • Bone block grafting: The patient's own bone is harvested from one site and grafted at the implant site
  • Bone substitute material: Synthetic or biological materials that stimulate the bone to grow
  • Bone spreading / bone splitting: The existing bone is gently widened to create space for the implant

Whether bone grafting is necessary and which procedure is suitable is clarified with 3D diagnostics (CBCT) as early as the initial consultation.

Implant care and aftercare

The right care is crucial for your dental implants to last a long time:

  • Daily tooth brushing and cleaning of the spaces between the teeth (interdental brushes or dental floss)
  • Regular professional teeth cleaning (recommended twice a year)
  • Check-up examinations to monitor the fit of the implant and the surrounding bone structure
  • No smoking -- smoking is one of the biggest risk factors for implant loss

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

How much does a dental implant cost in Düsseldorf?
Depending on the material and complexity, the cost of a single-tooth implant with crown is approx. €1,800 to €3,500. German statutory health insurance contributes through fixed subsidies. Patients who have kept their bonus booklet (Bonusheft) consistently receive up to 30% more subsidy. We prepare a transparent treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan) for you in advance.
How long does a dental implant last?
With good care and regular check-ups, dental implants can last for many years. Studies show survival rates of over 95% after 10 years. Good oral hygiene, regular professional teeth cleaning and not smoking are decisive.
Is having an implant placed painful?
No. Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthesia and is usually painless. Many patients report that the procedure was less unpleasant than expected. For patients with dental anxiety, we also offer nitrous oxide sedation or general anaesthesia.
How long does the treatment take overall?
From implant placement to the finished crown usually takes 3 to 6 months -- most of this time is the healing phase, during which the implant fuses with the bone. You wear a temporary restoration during this period. If there is sufficient bone, immediate restoration is also possible.
How long will I be off work after a dental implant?
Most patients can return to work the next day. For more extensive procedures (several implants, bone grafting), we recommend 2 to 3 days of rest. Swelling and mild discomfort usually subside within a week.
Is an implant possible even with little bone?
Yes, in most cases. Using bone augmentation procedures (sinus lift, bone substitute material, bone splitting), we can place implants even where bone volume is reduced. We use 3D diagnostics to determine whether bone grafting is necessary and which procedure is suitable.
Titanium or ceramic -- which implant is better?
Titanium implants are the proven standard with an excellent long-term prognosis. Ceramic implants (zirconium oxide) are the metal-free alternative -- particularly suitable for patients with metal intolerance or high aesthetic demands in the front tooth area. We advise you individually.
Does health insurance pay for dental implants?
German statutory health insurance pays a fixed subsidy towards dental prosthetics -- regardless of whether you choose a bridge or an implant. You receive the same subsidy for both options. The personal contribution for implants is usually higher than for a bridge.
Dental implant or bridge -- which is better?
An implant protects the neighbouring teeth (no grinding down required) and prevents bone loss. A bridge is completed more quickly and costs less. If the neighbouring teeth are healthy, we generally recommend an implant. If the neighbouring teeth are already crowned, a bridge may be the more sensible option.
What happens if an implant fails to heal in?
The risk of implant loss is below 5%. If an implant does not heal in, it is removed, and after a healing period of a few weeks a new implant can usually be placed. We discuss the costs of the replacement implant transparently in advance.
