Veneers – For Your Radiant Smile

Note: This article is for general information purposes and does not replace individual dental advice.

Veneers are one of our most sought-after services in the field of aesthetic dentistry. Veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells that can bring about an impressive improvement to your smile.

Veneers – the aesthetic solution for your teeth

Veneers are ceramic shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They can be an aesthetic solution for discolouration, small gaps, and chipped or irregularly shaped teeth. The ceramic shells often look natural and are a gentle alternative to crowns and bridges. Which form of restoration is appropriate, however, always depends on the existing tooth structure and the individual treatment goal.

Fitting veneers

Veneers are fitted in several steps. First, the surface of the teeth concerned is minimally ground down to create space for the veneers. A precise impression of the teeth is then taken so that the veneers can be custom-made. In the meantime, you will be given a temporary restoration to protect your teeth. Once the veneers have been completed, they are bonded to the teeth and adjusted at our practice.

Types of veneers

At our practice, we offer various types of veneers so that we can respond to the needs and wishes of our patients. Among the most common are traditional ceramic veneers, which are valued for their durability and natural appearance. Another option is no-prep veneers, such as the Lumineers we offer. This type of veneer requires only minimal or no grinding of the tooth at all, making it a particularly gentle alternative. Composite veneers are a more affordable solution; they are made from a special resin and can be applied directly to the teeth. Each type of veneer has its own advantages and disadvantages. Our team will help you choose the veneers that are right for you.

Veneers before and after

In a personal consultation, we will explain, based on your individual starting situation, which changes can realistically be achieved with veneers. The aesthetic results that are attainable depend, among other things, on tooth colour, tooth shape, the existing tooth structure and the desired treatment goal.

Veneers Q&A

How long do veneers last?

The lifespan of veneers depends on various factors, such as the material used, how well they are cared for and your individual dental situation. Ceramic veneers are known for their durability and last on average 10 to 15 years or longer if they are well looked after. Composite veneers have a shorter lifespan of around 5 to 10 years. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene help to extend the life of your veneers.

Are veneers harmful to the teeth?

Veneers are generally a gentle way of enhancing the appearance of your teeth. When traditional veneers are fitted, the tooth surface is minimally ground down to create space for the veneers. This process can slightly affect the tooth enamel, but the impact is considerably smaller than with other forms of restoration such as crowns or bridges. No-prep veneers often require no or only minimal grinding of the tooth, which makes them a particularly tooth-friendly alternative. Our practice attaches great importance to preserving the health of your teeth, and we will always choose the gentlest method for your individual situation.

How much do veneers cost?

The cost of veneers varies depending on the material, the type and the number of teeth to be treated. Ceramic veneers are usually more expensive than composite veneers, but they offer greater durability and a more natural appearance. No-prep veneers can cost a similar amount to traditional veneers, as they require a special technique and high-quality materials. For an accurate estimate, we recommend arranging an appointment at our practice, where we can discuss your individual needs and wishes and prepare a detailed cost estimate for you. In many cases, statutory health insurance in Germany does not cover the cost of veneers; however, private supplementary insurance may cover part of the costs.
