Since then, implantology has been one of his specialist fields, and he places great importance on its continuous development.
Regular prophylaxis extends the lifespan of implants
The area around an implant is susceptible to inflammation, especially where oral hygiene is poor. In the worst case, this can lead to the loss of the implant. Given the treatment costs invested and the effort involved, this is a particularly frustrating outcome. The chances of a new implant healing successfully in the same site are low.
Regular prophylaxis treatments can extend the lifespan of an implant beyond the ten years that can typically be expected. Even in the preoperative phase, prophylaxis creates a plaque-free and caries-free environment in the mouth — the best possible conditions for placing and preserving an implant.
To help prevent inflammation, we recommend regular professional teeth cleaning. If an implant is planned, the first prophylaxis appointment should take place three months before the procedure. Once the implant has been placed, professional teeth cleaning is recommended twice a year.
