Your bonus booklet – an often underestimated advantage
Many patients are not aware of it: the dental bonus booklet (Bonusheft) can make a considerable financial difference when dental prosthetics are needed later on. Anyone who goes for regular check-ups and has them documented in the bonus booklet receives a considerably higher subsidy for dental prosthetics from their statutory health insurance.
How the bonus works
- Without a bonus booklet: The health insurance fund pays a fixed subsidy of 60 % of the cost of standard care
- 5 years without a gap: The subsidy rises to 70 % of standard care
- 10 years without a gap: The subsidy rises to 75 % of standard care
For a dental bridge, where the co-payment under standard care can amount to several hundred euros, this quickly makes a noticeable difference.
What do I have to do?
The requirements are straightforward:
- Adults: A dental check-up at least once a year
- Children and adolescents (12 to 17 years): Twice a year
- Every visit is stamped in the bonus booklet by the dentist
- A professional teeth cleaning does not replace the stamp – a separate check-up appointment is required
What if there are gaps in the bonus booklet?
If you have missed a year, the count starts again from the beginning. But: start now! In five years, you will already benefit from the increased subsidy. And if dental prosthetics are needed right now, we will check together with you whether a hardship provision or other subsidies may apply.
